BACKING LOCAL PROJECTS IN MACEDON

The Allan Labor Government is building on its support for regional Victoria with exciting new projects set to boost local economies, build even stronger communities and give people even more reasons to stop and visit.

More than $5.3 million will support projects across the Loddon Mallee region through the Labor Government’s $25 million Council Support Package. The package, now fully acquitted, has successfully helped shovel-ready projects get off the ground in our biggest regional cities and surrounding towns.

The package funds projects that are designed to increase tourism, improve local infrastructure, strengthen businesses and empower volunteers – with grants ranging from $20,000 and $5 million depending on size and scope.

$99,600 for the Macedon Ranges Shire Council will deliver upgrades to Black Hill Reserve at Kyneton, including repairs to damaged trails, drainage, signage and facilitation of cultural content, supporting civic pride and visitation to the area.

The Bendigo Low Line project will transform the Bendigo CBD, delivering an extension to the Bendigo Creek channel walkway between Golden Square, White Hills and the Bendigo town centre, providing an active and safe off-road transport corridor and connecting many of Bendigo’s major recreational, business and tourism attractions.

The pedestrian crossing on Mostyn Street in Castlemaine will soon be even safer with an $80,000 upgrade. This will transform the main retail strip in Castlemaine, and improve safety for pedestrians and road users.

The Council Support Package has backed 27 projects across regional Victoria.

The Council Support Package along with Tiny Towns grants are part of the Labor Government’s record $45 billion investment in regional Victoria since 2014, making our
regions even better places to live, work and visit.
