The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring families in Gisborne are one step closer to having a great local school, with works moving ahead on the new Willowbank Primary School.
Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, has welcomed the appointment of ADCO Group Pty Ltd to build Willowbank Primary as part of the Labor Government’s commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026.
Students and staff at Willowbank Primary School will have access to facilities including two Learning Neighbourhood buildings, a Performing Arts and Physical Education Building, an Administration and Resource Intensive Learning building, multipurpose hardcourts, playgrounds and a sports field.
Works are expected to begin in early 2021 with the school to be open by Term 1, 2022.
Every new Victorian primary school being built from 2021 will have a kindergarten on-site or next door, to reduce the burden on parents and carers while continuing to build the Education State.
In the past five years, the Labor Government has invested more than $9 billion in more than 1,600 school upgrades – creating more than 10,000 construction jobs – and is now ahead of schedule its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022.
