Connectivity boost for Tylden

Locals and visitors to Tylden in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges are benefiting from improved mobile coverage thanks to a joint investment by the Albanese Government and the Allan Labor Governments.

The deployment of a new Telstra macro cell mobile site provides improved mobile coverage and connectivity to the Tylden area, including along the Kyneton to Trentham roadway, the Calder Highway, and along the nearby rail line.

The community is benefiting through improved access to essential services such as health, education and government services.

The Commonwealth contributed $479,000 towards this project through the Regional Connectivity Program (RCP), along with contributions fromthe Victorian Government through the Connecting Victoria Program, and from Telstra Limited.

The RCP is part of the Albanese Government’s Better Connectivity Plan for Regional and Rural Australia, providing $656 million to improve mobile and broadband connectivity and resilience in rural, regional and remote communities. This project was delivered under Round 2 of the RCP funding, which committed $137.21 million (GST inclusive) for 93 projects across Australia.

The State Government’s $300 million mobile investment is part of the $550 million Connecting Victoria Program to fast track better mobile and broadband in as many places as possible, especially in regional areas.
