The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to support Macedon with the infrastructure and services it needs to grow and thrive.
Minister for Regional Development Harriet Shing and the Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas have announced $275,706 funding for nine local projects through the Labor Government’s Living Local Fund.
Girl Guides Victoria: $47,000 The removal of potentially harmful asbestos in the hall, replaced with new weatherboards and plastering both externally and internally to include plumbing, upgraded electrical work, painting, flooring and sustainable heating and cooling to deliver a safer environment for those who use the Daylesford Girl Guide Hall.
Macedon & Mount Macedon Community House: $161, 809 The design & construction of open space precincts at MMMCH will be undertaken to enable activation of programs, events & activities in "fit for purpose" precincts i.e. permaculture kitchen garden, food forest, sensory garden, "meet & greet" gathering space as well as startup appliances, furnishings, storage and minor building modifications required to meet user group needs.
Health Futures Australia Ltd: $10,125 The SHIFT Healthy Lunch Kitchen is a social enterprise providing subsidised nutritious and affordable lunches to 50% of schools in the Hepburn Shire in Victoria, using local produce in a circular economy approach.
Lyonville Community Planning Group: $7,057 To purchase and install a generator to provide power for the community during our frequent power outages.
Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre Inc: $20,000 Purchase new Pottery Kiln to replace 37 year old pottery kiln. Community based pottery classes have been running since the 1970s serving the region, 6 classes each term running 4 terms per year.
Romsey Neighbourhood House: $14,450 RNH has been developing a Foodbank for the past 2 years and has recently been approved as a Foodbank Victoria Agency. The Project requires 2 storage containers to facilitate maximum capacity, to ensure safe and secure appropriate storage of food donations and access to users. In addition, funding electrical wiring to both containers for lighting and general refrigeration appliances (fridges &
freezers).
Woodend Mens’ Shed: $5,035 A program that response to the isolated or struggling families with broken and damaged household items and local community organisations seeking help to deliver increased services and activities to their various constituencies. Requests involve making and refurbishing items but requires equipment that can cut, shape and sand to achieve a quality finish.
Lancefield Neighbourhood House: $3,345 Expansion of the dining room area, move an adjoining wall into the timber storage area.
Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House: $6,885 Project Access will provide a monitoring and alarm system, enabling the community to have after hours access and providing additional security to the house and its assets. It will also enable the purchase of equipment.
More than 400 projects across the state will be supported through the Fund, with $15 million available for suburban projects and another $5 million for the regions.
Local councils and community organisations have received grants of up to $200,000 for upgrades to shopping strips, playgrounds, community gardens and public art projects, or to buy new equipment or carry out minor refurbishment works.
From playground upgrades in Pakenham to the creation of an Aboriginal community art gallery in Ballarat, the Living Local Fund is supporting a wealth of diverse and important locally led projects right across Victoria.
The Living Local Fund is part of the Government’s Our Suburbs: Living Local and Our Regions: Living Local Initiatives.
