Investing in school bushfire preparedness across the macedon electorate

The Victorian Government will deliver vital safety works at schools across the Macedon electorate ahead of the next bushfire season.

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas today announced 24 schools in the Macedon electorate are part of 346 schools across the state that will share in more than $9 million through the 2020-21 Bushfire Preparedness (Vegetation) Program.

The Bushfire Preparedness funding will allow these schools to clear vegetation and undertake other essential maintenance ahead of the upcoming bushfire season.

Schools receiving Bushfire Preparedness funding includes:

Bolinda Primary School Bullarto Primary School Coimadai Primary School Darraweit Guim Primary School Daylesford Primary School Daylesford Secondary College Drummond Primary School Elphinstone Primary School Gisborne Secondary College Hepburn Primary School Lancefield Primary School Langley Primary School Macedon Primary School Malmsbury Primary School Mount Macedon Primary School New Gisborne Primary School Newham Primary School Riddells Creek Primary School Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School Taradale Primary School Toolern Vale and District Primary School Tylden Primary School Woodend Primary School Yandoit Primary School Works with contractors will be carried out under COVID-19 advice guidelines to ensure the health and safety of staff and students.

If works can’t start immediately due to Stage 4 restrictions, offsite planning of these works and any that are essential for school safety will continue.

The Government is investing an unprecedented $7.2 billion in Victorian school infrastructure, which is delivering more than 1,460 school upgrades and 100 new schools by 2026 – ensuring every child can access a great local school where they can achieve their best.
