Lancefield Park is among 73 projects to score a share in $22 million from the Victorian Government’s 2021 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund. With overwhelming demand for shovel-ready community sports infrastructure across Victoria, the fund is supporting projects across five categories including Better Indoor Stadiums, Female Friendly Facilities, Community Sports Lighting, Facilities for Active Seniors, and Scoreboards and Fixed Equipment.
Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas today announced that Lancefield Park home to Lancefield Tigers has scored $209,520 towards the redevelopment of the sports oval lighting with existing sub-standard lights being removed and replaced with new 30m light towers (x4) and LED floodlights to 100 lux. The project will also provide the required infrastructure to allow a future upgrade of lighting levels to 150 lux.
From new LED sports lighting installations to new indoor multi-sport courts, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for more Victorians to secure the benefits of participating in sport and active recreation.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence also announced that the next round of the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund will open later this year, with up to $27 million available – including $10 million for female friendly facilities.
The Victorian Government has invested more than $1.1 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.
The Local Sports Infrastructure Fund is also a key component of the government’s suite of community sport and active recreation infrastructure investment programs including the World Game Facilities Fund, Community Cricket Program, Community Motorsport Program, Community Sports Infrastructure Loans Scheme and the popular Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.
Ms Thomas acknowledged the Macedon Ranges Shire Council for their commitment and financial contribution to the project.
