Students and teachers at schools in Macedon will benefit when a maintenance blitz gets underway.
Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas today announced that schools in Macedon are among 111 schools to share the blitz – which includes painting, resurfacing and fixing roofs and windows – as part of the Term 3 Planned Maintenance Program.
Gisborne Primary School: has been allocated a total of $80,000.
This includes $25,000 to address high priority maintenance tasks including balustrade repair, downpipe repair, drinking fountain repair, external surface repainting, external surface revarnishing, fascia repainting, gutter repair, handrail repair, shade structure repainting, skylight repair, stair repair, structural repair, wall repainting, wall repair, wall replacement and window repair. This also includes $55,000 for high priority maintenance tasks identified in the school’s specialist assessment to address the school’s roofing and structural issues.
Taradale Primary School: has been allocated a total of $105,000.
This includes $105,000 for high priority maintenance works on the school’s Shelter in Place building.
Woodend Primary School: has been allocated a total of $50,000.
This includes $20,000 to address high priority maintenance tasks at the High Street campus, this includes external surface repainting, external surface revarnishing, floor revarnishing, gutter repair, shade structure repair, skylight repair and wall repainting. At the Nicholson campus in Carlsruhe this includes external surface revarnishing, floor revarnishing, gutter repair, shade structure repair, wall repainting and window repair. This also includes $30,000 for high priority maintenance tasks to address roof issues at the High and Nicholson campuses.
Daylesford Primary School: has been allocated a total of $170,000.
This includes $125,000 for high priority maintenance works on the school’s Shelter in Place building..
This also includes $5,000 to address high priority maintenance tasks including ceiling repair, door repair, fence repair, gate repair, structural repair and wall repainting. This also includes $40,000 for high priority maintenance tasks to address the school’s roofing and structural issues.
Sunbury And Macedon Ranges Specialist School: has been allocated a total of $45,000.
This includes $15,000 to address high priority maintenance tasks, at the Bullengarook campus, this includes external surface repainting, fascia repainting, handrail repair, shade structure repair, shade structure replacement, wall repainting and wall repair. At the Jacksons campus, this includes external surface revarnishing, fascia repainting, handrail repair, shade structure repair and wall repainting. This also includes $30,000 for high priority maintenance tasks to address roof issues at the Bullengarook and Jacksons campuses.
The program will see the schools share in $11.24 million of funding for the works to take place, which also includes replacing floors, works to grounds and classrooms and external landscaping works to pathways and lighting.
The blitz will ensure the schools are safe, modern and properly upheld. It comes in addition to the $28.4 million in funding allocated over the last term, $4.27 million already provided to 47 schools through the Term 2 Planned Maintenance Program, and the $5.84 million provided to 57 schools through the Term 1 Planned Maintenance Program.
This funding also covers an ongoing program to inspect and repair or replace solar power systems across 737 school campuses.
In the past eight years, the Andrews Labor Government has invested $12.8 billion in building new schools and more than 1,850 school upgrades, creating around 17,400 jobs in construction and associated industries.
The Labor Government is now ahead of schedule in opening 100 new schools by 2026, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024 – ensuring every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.
