Better sports facilities for the Macedon Ranges are a step closer, with Macedon Ranges Shire Council awarding the design services tender for the Macedon Ranges Regional Sports Precinct.
Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, welcomed the announcement of the design services tender – which has been awarded to City Collective Pty. Ltd.
The Andrews Labor Government is fully committed to the Macedon Ranges Regional Sports Precinct project, and delivered $11.6 million for the project in the 2019/20 Budget.
Macedon Ranges Shire Council is contributing funding for the project, while the Federal Government is yet to deliver a cent.
The Precinct will be spread across two connecting sites in New Gisborne at the corner of Barringo Road and Hamilton Road, but will benefit communities from across the region.
With participation rates above the state average for AFL and cricket – and a growing local population – families in Macedon Ranges need new facilities.
Right now, local sporting spaces are chock-a-block, with Gardiner Reserve hosting 20 football teams and more than 30 cricket teams.
