NEW CHANGE ROOMS FOR NEXT GEN OF FEMALE RIDERS

Kyneton Racecourse will soon have upgraded jockey rooms thanks to a funding boost from the Allan Labor Government.

Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines today announced a $260,000 grant from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund to help refurbish and expand the jockey rooms at Kyneton Racecourse.

The Kyneton and Hanging Rock Racing Club is also providing $130,000 towards the project, with Racing Victoria matching their contribution with a further $130,000.

As part of the redevelopment the toilets, showers, and change rooms will be upgraded to accommodate the number of jockeys that use the facilities.

Due to be completed in coming weeks, the works will also significantly increase the size of the female jockeys' room and deliver better facilities for the growing number of female riders. This project will provide all jockeys racing and training at Kyneton with the high-quality, accessible and well-designed facilities they deserve to race to the best of their ability.

The thoroughbred racing industry in regional Victoria generates $711 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain almost 5,600 full time equivalent jobs in the region.

Since December 2014, the Government has provided more than $1.8 million towards 17 infrastructure projects and one raceday event to Kyneton and Hanging Rock Racing Club.
