A new kinder will be built at Kyneton Primary School, boosting kinder capacity for the area and ensuring families will be able to ditch the dreaded double-drop off.
Minister for Early Childhood Ingrid Stitt and Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas today visited Kyneton Primary School to announce a new kindergarten would be built on site.
The new kinder which will be funded by the Victorian Government will feature modern learning facilities and outdoor play spaces – boosting kinder capacity for Kyneton and ensuring locals can access the best excellent facilities.
The project will be delivered in partnership with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council and will be ready to open for Term 1, 2022 – in time for the roll-out of the Three-Year-Old Kinder in Macedon Ranges.
Work will be undertaken with the council, school community and other stakeholders to progress this project through planning, scoping, design, and construction phases.
In an Australian-first, the Victorian Government has committed nearly $5 billion to deliver a full 15 hours of Three-Year-Old Kinder to every Victorian child over the next decade, with the roll-out already underway. As part of this roll-out, the Government is upgrading infrastructure through a $1.68 billion co-investment with the early childhood sector to build and expand kindergarten facilities across the state.
The Government will also deliver a number of new kindergartens on or next to existing school sites to support the roll-out of Three-Year-Old Kindergarten and provide benefits through co-location of facilities and convenience for families.
Every new Victorian primary school set to open from 2021 will have a kindergarten on-site or next door, reducing the burden on parents and helping to build the Education State. This includes all 10 primary schools set to open in 2021 and all six opening in 2022.
The Victorian Government is also investing up to $169.6 million to make kinder free next year, saving families around $2000 for every child enrolled in a participating funded kindergarten program.
