OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS CARE FOR MACEDON SCHOOLS IN 2027

Labor is backing families in Macedon with quality, affordable care before and after school.  

Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas has announced that five schools in Macedon will receive grants to continue providing Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) in 2027.  

102 small, rural and regional schools will get a funding boost of up to $40,000 each to supplement OSHC delivery.  

In Macedon, the following local schools are receiving funding:  

• Coimadai Primary School
• Darraweit Guim Primary School
• Newham Primary School
• Taradale Primary School
• Trentham Primary School

The maximum funding amount per school has increased from $30,000 per school for 2026.  

The grants can help fund before school care, after school care or holiday care – responding to the needs of local communities.

For working parents, that means having the peace of mind that care is available for the kids.

This also gives families the support they deserve to get back into the workforce, do extra study or undertake training.  

That could look like picking up an extra shift at work or starting one of Labor’s free TAFE courses.

These grants are part of Labor’s $14.7 million investment in 2024 to back OSHC at schools.

The investment focuses on schools with less than 200 students, and schools in rural and regional areas.

Only Labor is backing regional and rural communities, providing more high-quality care close to home.

When Jess Wilson’s Liberals and Nationals were last in government, they cut $1 billion from education.  

Now, they want to cut regional school funding, let schools crumble and abandoning families.
