TRENTHAM OPENS NEW COMMUNITY HUB

The Trentham community now has a one-stop-shop to access the town’s services and host local events, thanks to the completion of the new community hub backed by the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas today represented Minister for Regional Development Gayle Tierney to open The Mechanics Trentham alongside community members and representatives from all levels of government.

Construction of the new hub was made possible by a Labor Government investment of $4 million, with $3.5 million provided through Regional Development Victoria. A further $500,000 was provided through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

Built on the site of the old Trentham Mechanics Institute and incorporating elements of the original building, The Mechanics Trentham was designed in close consultation with the community.

The hub includes a library, visitor information centre, Hepburn Shire Council customer service counter, meeting and function rooms, and a multi-purpose community hall. The hub’s new car park will improve accessibility for people of different abilities.

The new library will play an important role in fostering lifelong learning and facilitating free access to print and digital information for people of all ages, as well as providing literacy support and resources.Putting these facilities and services under one roof in Trentham will give people access to everything
they need in a single, convenient location.

This investment is part of the Labor Government’s record $45 billion investment in projects and programs supporting regional Victoria to be an even better place to live, work, and visit.

This investment has created great jobs for locals that are close to home, provided communities with the infrastructure they need to thrive, inspired visitors to experience our regions, and contributed to Victoria having one of the lowest unemployment rates in regional Australia at 3.8%.

Delivery of The Mechanics Trentham was also supported by an investment of more than $1 million through the Commonwealth Government’s Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Program, and more than $2 million from Hepburn Shire Council.
